Salon Reading Series
& Brady Fellows Program
Original works-in-progress by our award-winning cohort of emerging women playwrights
in their prime

What:
3GT’s legacy staged reading program, the Salon Reading Series, was created specifically to present the work of women dramatists who take a nontraditional path to professional theatre-making. Emerging playwrights over 40 all too often find their development opportunities frustrated because “emerging” translates to “20-something” in the eyes of theatre producers. 3GT is one of the only companies nationwide to provide dedicated development and production support for women writers in this highly marginalized age group.

Who:
Each year, the Company invites emerging Bay Area women playwrights 40+ to apply for a slot in our Salon Series cohort by becoming a Brady Fellow. Our Brady Fellows Program offers artistic support, commitment and community to women theatre-makers "in their prime" who share 3GT's passion for bringing stories told by women to the stage. We provide each Brady Fellow with a professional team and resources, including a dramaturg, director and cast. We support their new play through drafts to a staged reading for a live audience, a springboard for further development.

Where:
While stages are dark, 3GT is fully engaged in developing new work by our current cohort of Salon Series artists. Once it's safe to invite audiences back to the theatre, our free monthly staged readings will resume at the landmark Phoenix Theatre located in the San Francisco's vibrant Union Square cultural district. To get notified as soon as the Salon Series goes public once again, sign up for our mailing list.

“Readings are the best way figure out what’s wrong with a play. Hearing the words out loud in front of an engaged Salon Series audience brings them to life and shows what’s missing. . . There’s just no substitute to get your script to the next level.”
