PRIMARY ROLES:

Casting 4 Principal Roles:
Ophelia: (20’s, Asian/POC Transgender Woman/Bi-racial Asian Transgender Woman) A young, possibly neurodivergent trans woman of color (racially ambiguous, so QTBIPOC can definitely play this part, just as long as they bear some semblance of being partially Asian because the script alludes to her to hold some Asian origin) who recently reached clarity of her gender that she’s been subconsciously pushing down through the decades because of heteronormative cissexism. Ophelia senses the light within her reigniting again but institutional structures of violence hold her back.

Joanne: (late 40’s-50’s. White, White Cisgender Woman). Radical Feminist. Joanne thinks the term, Trans-Exclusionary-Radical-Feminist, is a slur and affront to her years of fighting for WOMEN’S LIB. Joanne is strident in bringing down the patriarchy but she subconsciously resents her daughter, Ophelia.

Dr. Ashton: (30’s -70’s Asian, Cisgender Woman) Psychiatrist. Fourth-Wave feminist, that tries to be intersectional but lacking vision about what they could look like, but she tries, and that’s all that matters, right? She went to Stanford and comes from a Taiwanese family that left because of a Marxist revolution.

Ghost: (20’s-70’s, White, Woman) Ghost in Victorian Dress. New Women’s Movement / Exclusionary against Chinese)Think Charlotte-Perkins-Gilman / Susan B. Anthony but Jacob Marley. She’s residual from a time that is not unlike our time, meaning that she was trying to push for women’s lib but still lacking in vision.
