JOIN OUR BOARD!

3Girls Theatre is a San Francisco-based, theater company founded in 2011. We are seeking new Board Members to continue to support our mission and thrive.

3GT's Mission

3Girls Theatre develops, promotes, and presents new plays by San Francisco Bay Area women+ playwrights.

Founded in 2011 to challenge the bias that favors men’s voices over women’s, we provide an artistic home for San Francisco Bay Area women and assigned-female-at-birth playwrights at all stages of their creative and professional process. Our community, programming, and artist services provide playwrights with everything they need to develop and produce their scripts, nurturing women+ theatre artists ranging in age from 11-90+, and empowering BIPOC and LBTQI+ playwrights.

The 3GT Board is assembled to support the mission of 3Girls Theatre. We are a working board that has a focus on fundraising and advising on strategies for our future work, community investment, and action plans such as DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion). Members of the Board facilitate and guide strategic direction and support of the Organization. The Board provides interpersonal introductions for Artistic Director and staff, spearheads fundraising efforts, and influences strategic decisions about the future of the Organization. Governance is guided by the 3GT Board By-Laws.

The Board has five to nine members that meet quarterly to advance our current programs and projects. The Board has consulted on and supported in the areas of promotion of our programs, fundraising and development, community engagement, company sustainability and finance. All of the Board members have been engaged in supporting our programs from between one to eleven years. The Secretary is responsible for coordinating Board meetings, taking meeting minutes during each Board meeting and ensuring the previous meeting’s minutes are approved during each Board meeting.

We ask that new members commit to working on the 3GT Board for a minimum of two years. Emeritus board members make valuable contributions by providing guidance and additional support to both the current board members and the company.

We are at a crucial turning point in our history as a community-based arts organization. With the departure of our founding Executive Artistic Director, we have evolved into a shared leadership model, whose members reflect the diversity of our constituent playwrights and right-sizing our programs and budget to the current circumstances.

WHO WE ARE SEEKING

We are actively seeking several dedicated members to join our Board. We are particularly interested in creating a Board that mirrors the diversity of our playwrights (Over 40, BIPOC, LBTQ+). Candidates should have some knowledge of or passionate interest in shared nonprofit board leadership, theatre and any of the following expertise: Financial Management, Strategic Planning, Community Engagement, Conflict Resolution, DEI, Marketing, Corporate Giving, Fundraising, or Legal.

3Girls Theatre is committed to diverse representation across class, gender, ethnicity, and ability. We are committed to centering the voices of those most directly affected by systemic inequities and oppression. This commitment extends to the 3GT Board.
