Mary Powelson
Actor, Director
Mary Powelson has worked in the theatre for 40 years as an actor, director, playwright, and teacher. Powelson received both her B.A. and M.A. in Theatre Arts from San Francisco State University; she studied and trained with Jean Shelton, Camille Howard, Susan Peretz, the Actors Studio, and is member of the Screen Actors Guild. She has coordinated playwrights’ units at Actors Studio West and Los Angeles Theatre Center. Her short play, Iphigenia at Nasdaq, was a finalist in the Actors’ Theatre of Louisville National Ten-Minute Play Contest. She is a longtime member of Will Dunne’s Dramatic Writing Workshop. A veteran teaching artist, Powelson is the founding Artistic Director of Salesian Club Theatre which has produced youth theatre for over 13 years in North Beach.
