Two women, former lovers and enemies, meet after fifty years at the deathbed of an ancient crone—savior, mother, murderer—where they proceed to fight over her care and relive past passions. Burden Down, by Elizabeth Gjelten, is a play about the burdens of trauma and privilege, the mysteries of healing, and a blind puppet with magical powers.
