Maddie Gaw

Dramaturg

Maddie Gaw is a classic millennial multi-hyphenate, but mainly a writer and creative developer. In a very recent past life, she was a literary manager. Maddie has worked with 3GT since 2018, first as the Artistic Associate for New Play Development, and now as a dramaturg and associate artist. While she was Artistic Associate, she produced the 2018-19 Salon Reading Series and administered the 2019-20 Brady Fellows selection process. Maddie is the dramaturg for Elizabeth Flanagan’s Meth, which will be staged at the 2020 New Works Festival.

She has spent the last two years concentrating on new play development and has provided dramaturgical support for readings of Tori Keenan-Zelt’s How the Baby Died (Bay Area Playwrights Festival), Carey Perloff’s Bastiano, or the Transfiguration of Raffi (Playwrights Foundation Rough Reading Series), and Patricia Cotter’s The Daughters (BAPF). Maddie is currently collaborating with Weston Scott on an untitled musical about William Howard Taft and with Trevor Scott Floyd on his play Taranis, or Inherit the Earth (SF Olympians Festival). Other dramaturgy credits include productions at Marin Theatre Company, Crowded Fire Theater, and Custom Made.

These days, Maddie is the Grants & Communications Coordinator at Berkeley Repertory Theatre, where she supports all aspects of institutional giving and writes the donor newsletter. Her writing has been published by HowlRound, the Berkeley Rep Magazine, Samuel French’s Breaking Character Magazine, and The Toast. Maddie is also a budding theatre historian and aspiring podcaster. Her entire worldview is shaped by K.A. Applegate’s Animorphs
